Returning Home to Ourselves

We have been navigating through intense energies in our world. I have at times felt moments of despair and loneliness as I went through lockdown after lockdown.

One day, Mother Earth coaxed me out and I climbed into Grandparent Tree by the river and I surrendered into its strong ancient trunk. I closed my eyes and called upon my ancestral women to hold and nourish me as I cried.

As I allowed my feelings and emotions to flow, I find a quiet space from within. My expressions started clearing the overgrown vines that was hiding my beautiful warm cave of cashmere blankets, cushions and candles. It is filled with so much love.

The wisdom of this experience reminds me of the strength that we all have within ourselves.

Oftentimes we venture outside to find comfort, but it might just be a bandaid - endless TV series, shopping, food, social media (hey, no judgements - I have spent many a fine evening snuggled up with Outlander and Korean fried chicken). However, while it might leave us with a temporary sense of fulfilment, there is often a bigger hole that remains unfulfilled.

What I find more reliable (and kinder to our bodies) is creating a safe haven for ourselves through our wisdom, experiences and our ancestors. The sense of belonging, nourishment and love that exists within our cave. Sometimes the cave is a simple dirt floor sheltered from the elements.

Other times it is filled with beautiful cushions.
